Need help with a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 running Linux Mint

I have installed Linux Mint 15 with MATE 32 bit on a Dell Inspiron Mini 1012. There have only been a couple of hitches in the installation. The first hitch was that I needed to download the correct wireless driver which was a pretty easy thing to do. The other hitch is a bit more complex and I'm at a loss as to what to do. The computer refuses to wake up from suspend. The only way to use the computer after using suspend is a hard reboot. I would really appreciate some help fixing this!

I would be guessing the video card is the issue. The GMA series have an appalling history, and Intel should be ashamed for selling/re-badging them.
I never managed to get satisfactory suspend/resume on a similarly spec'd (but using older GMA chip) Gateway. Hibernate worked IIRC - slower restart, but it worked (on Ubuntu Precise - 12.04)

Hard power off is a bad solution. When you get broken filesystem(s) you'll understand why.

I understand why a hard power off is a really bad solution; I have already been that road. I probably didn't make this clear, but to me a hard power off is a very last resort. That sucks that there's no real way to fix it.
