Question Monitor doesn't wake up after stanby and battery monitor problems

Hi!

1. When i put my laptop into standby:

echo 3 > /proc/acpi/sleep

and turn it on again my lcd stays off. When i use suspend to disk (echo 4) everything work ok.
Any clues?

I know that's only monitor cause comp reacts (i can reboot it using keyboard, caps lock works and so on).

Kernel 2.6.4 (compiled on my computer)
Apm off
Acer Travelmate 240

2. My battery monitor reacts to plugging and unplugging power cable, but as soon as i unplug it battery level goes to 0%.

Thanks for any ideas...

could very possibly be your videocard. Mine had issues with windows and hibernations and standbys back before I started with linux. I have never had the urge to fool around with it in linux. Is acpi properly configured in your kernel? The battery thing sounds like a problem with acpi, either in your bios or in your kernel. If it isn't your kernel check with your manufacturer to see if you can update your bios for proper acpi support.

Interesting

Hi there

You may have the same problem as me so I wonder if you could try something ?

The next time you get a blank screen key Cntl-Alt-F1 and see if a text screen comes up. If it does then try keying Cntl-Alt-F7 and see if X-Windows comes back up.

My problem is with the button that turns off the display when the lid is shut, I also get a blank screen but Cntl-Alt-F7 has no effect.
