Microtek 3840 a Lost Cause?

System: Dell Inspiron 1100
Distro: Suse 9.2, kernel 2.6.8-24, KDE 3.3.0
Dual Booting with Win XP
And I'm totally new to this OS.

Microtek 3840 a Lost Cause?
Yast detects the scanner (Microtek USB scanner) but the model isn't shown so I tried the generic microtek scanner. Doesn't work, though. And from the shell scanimage -L detects nothing.
Can anything be done to make this scanner work in Linux?

Thanks for your patience and help,
James Carruthers
