May I install a 64 bit ubuntu on my notebook?

I want to buy a Dell notebook and use it with ubuntu, but I donīt know wich of these are better: Dell with Intel Core Duo (32 bits) or Dell tith Turion 64 x2 (64 bits). I like Intel, but I donīt know how important are the 64 bits.
Can you help me?

you'd know if you had a 64 bit processor. you can only run 64 bit operating systems on a 64 bit host, it will not work (will most likely refuse to install) on a 32bit host.
