looking for Linux on a AMD 64 Laptop...

I am looking for a pre-loaded SusE Linux Laptop that supports AMD 64 that does *NOT* have a ATI video. I want this laptop to replace my desktop so I want the laptop to perform well.

Any suggestions??

well i have a HP pavilion ZV5000, it's not quite what your looking for (it's window and not sure if they make them any more) however it dose come with a Nvidia Video card it's quite power full and has an AMD 64 Athlon proc. the only big thing i have seen with them are they have a wide screen so you much adjust X windows, and the wireless card is not supproted under linux however NDS wrapper should make it work quite well. (edit becouse well; "me fail english? thats unpossable " -ralph wiggems )

I have the HP pavilion ZV5000 also. I just installed Debian today. I REALLY don't know what I'm doing so far so I don't even know what to ask at this point. Ha HA

Thumbs up what i have working

I have every thing except the wireless working (and thats only because i have not copied the driver over to see if i could get it working) Running FC5 (fedora core 5)

Touch pad -- worked out of the box
Sound -- worked out of the box
wired nic -- works out of the box
Nvidia card -- worked out of the box, but see below for how to get 3D support

Battery -- seems to be working (have not tested, having other battery issues)
56k modem -- not tested (shudders at the old days)

Wireless -- works

Wireless ran NDIS Wrapper on the windows dirver (the wiki here is great for some help) and modprobe ndiswrapper, ifconfig wlan0 up, dhclient wlan0.

You will want to run apt-get (to get the good stuff you might have to change repositories ;-)) http://www.apt-get.org/ just man apt-get, if you are not cofused after reading it let me know.

debian walk though for Nvidia 3D support

NDIS walk-though

let me know if you have problems with this. also before you install the invidia drivers i recommend installing lynx or w3m just in case

--Edit Cuz i got Wireless working

Question Got it to work

I got everything to work after doing another install, I made a few different choices (don't remember exactly what) & apt-get some different packages and it works.

I made it dual boot with XP on the main drive & Debian on a USB 60gig drive.I wanted to keep the OS's as separate as possible.

My question is related to booting, I can't boot into XP without having the USB drive attached. How can I EASILY change this?
Anyone??
