Locating touchscreen in /dev/

My laptop has a Gunze touchscreen. It is USB-based.

In order to configure it properly with GunzeTS, I have to first know where it is in the /dev/ directory. The manual says it will be something like /dev/ttyS01. I have determined that it is located at Hub 2 Port 2, but I don't know what /dev/<name> points to this.

"lsusb" provides no output.
"usbview" does not seem to provide this information.

The /dev/ name is dependent upon the driver that has been loaded for the device. If lsusb does not show the device, then the kernel is not even seeing it.

Is there some way to know what drivers are loaded? I installed the packages that should have the driver.

Hi,

In a console, type 'lsmod'. This will display all the modules (drivers) that are currently loaded. Look for 'gunze'. If it's not there, you can manually load it with 'modprobe gunze'. Now look at your /dev. Also try looking in /dev/input, /dev/usb, or /dev/input/usb. It could be in either of those.

Okay, I have now successfully run "modprobe gunze" and now "lsmod" lists and entry "Module: gunze; Size: 8320; Used by: 0." No new files were added to /dev/ or its subdirectories and I couldn't locate any file called gunze in /dev/.

It won't be called 'gunze'. It could be controlled by the generic event interface. In a console, run the command 'cat /proc/bus/input/devices'

It should give you a list of all your devices. Look for your gunze model touchscreen here. Now look for the line underneath called 'Handlers'. These are the device names in /dev or /dev/input you'll be looking for.
