Any suggestions on distributions to try, or methods you all used to get yours working? Downloading Debian 5 now, hoping that the detection has improved somewhat..

You didn't say what wireless card you had! I am using a Presario V5201US which has a Broadcom bcm4318 card. I am runing the UE 2.0 version of Ubuntu 8.10, which is a jazzed up version. It uses the b43xx driver and the Wifi Radar daemon and comes up every time, once it is set up. Just a thought. I am using the 32 bit version, however, there is a 64 bit version that I am using on my desktop, but not using wireless there. Hey, its something for you to try if you haven't gotten it figured out yet. later.............El_Viejo
Btw, I also have Mandriva 2008.1 on the same Compaq, which uses the Windows (ugh) drive and Ndiswrapper. I have to install the Mandriva version FIRST, then add the Ubuntu. 73's
