Linux on 6715s

Hey guys.

I'd like to know which distribution you would suggest for this laptop I got. It's an HP Compaq 6715s, spec's can be found here.

The only requirements I have is that the installation is easy, so it can find all drivers etc for me and also I'd like fluxbox to work with it too.

Thanks!

openSuse 10.2

Hey David,

I got a similar machine and installed openSUSE 10.2 on it. The installing runs flawlessly [way nicer than Ubuntu's]. The only thing was getting the LAN to work [had to use ndiswrapper and a win2k3 64bit Broadcom57x driver, the b57amd64.inf/sys/cab]. It went nice, just that [dunno why] the eth0 card was recognized as wired wlan0 [ho-hum], and so [after creating the DSL providers for the PPPoe] i gotta edit into etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg_dsl0 out the eth0 [normally assigned] replacing with wlan0 [abnormally given when ndiswrapper slapped the win2k3 64bit driver b57amd64 in the kernel].

Here an url to get the drivers [and some blahs]:

http://www.planetamd64.com/lofiversi...hp?t12432.html

Here how to get and install ndiswrapper:

http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/j...,installation/

Remains to see how the real wireless LAN will get to work [when i'll gety time for that].

These were/are the greatest problems: w/lan, so far.

The ATI Radeon 1250 diver is no match, if you haven't find it yet, here it is:

More to come as things evolve.
Happy tweaking,
Georg
