Linksys PCMLM56 EtherFast 10/100 + 56K Modem card detection problem

Hi,

Since my Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop's winmodem does not work with my distro (Kanotix, a Debian derivative) I am trying to use a Linksys PCMLM56 EtherFast 10/100 + 56K Modem PC Card. While the card seems to be detected correctly, it does not work.

Here is the output from the following command: (sorry for the lengthy posting)

dmesg| grep pcmcia && lsmod && cardctl ident && lspci -vv

Do you have any ideas who I could get this card to work?

Thanks,

VS

PS: am I correc in assuming that my laptop also has a built-in wireless card? Is this what the FireWire detections shows?

Unhappy Linksys PCMLM56 Problems with pcmciautils

Hello VS.

I'm curious if you ever got your PCMLM56 to work. I have an old laptop (Dell Inspiron 8100) in which I use a PCMLM56 with Fedora Core 3. It worked fine when I initially updated to FC4 but quit working when the switch from pcmcia_cs to pcmciautils was made and hasn't worked since with FC4, FC5 or FC6. The problem seems to be pcmciautils related as it still works fine with FC3.

I'd like to update the laptop to FC6 but the failure of the PCMLM56 to work is a show stopper. Oh I could buy another PCMCIA NIC I guess but I see no reason why the Linksys PCMLM56 shouldn't work and it is a perfectly fine NIC. So, if you are anyone else has figured out how to make it work with pcmciautils, I'd surely like to hear how.
