Lenovo Z570 with BIOS/MBR:CentOs-7 install error: no valid bootloader stage1 found

Hi,

I am trying to install CentOs-7 on Lenovo Z570 (processor I3) which is having BIOS/MBR.
Presently windows -7 Home basic 32 bit is installed on it and i intend to dual boot.

I am unable to install it as both automatic partitioning or manual
partitioning are unsuccessful always returning error "no valid
bootloader stage 1 device found".

Apart from /boot partition, i have also tried having /boot/efi (fat)
partition. I have also tried option noefi at boot time.

Update: Just now finished installing CentOs 6.6 (32 bit), installed
without any problem whatsoever. So is it something do with CentOs-7
being 64 bit and my laptop being BIOS/MBR? and how to overcome this?

Does it mean that i can not use CentOs7 or say CentOs-6.6 64 bit on
my laptop? I just found out that i can not use KVM on CentOs 6.6. 32 bit.
(want to prepare for RHCE)

Can somebody help me? (Any Lenovo Z-570 owner having CentOs-7 or any
CentOS 64 bit dualboot install?)

More precisely, referring to this:-
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Commo...unclear_errors

can somebody guide me on how to prepare CentOs-7 installtion for
MBR/BIOS systems?

(I have tried earlier Livecd-to-ISO tool, but that has failed.)

regards

Sanjay

Take a look at the link below as it seems to have a fairly detailed explanation of installing CentOS 7.
Are you sure your hardware is 64bit? If it came with windows 7 it probably is. 64bit and MBR are not mutually exclusive. If you have windows 7 installed using MBR then you should install CentOS MBR and not UEFI.

comm.sanjay,

I suspect that yancek intended to leave this dual-boot link for W7 and CentOS 7:

Thanks for the quick answers beachboy2 and yancek.

The solution i found was as follows:-

When i wrote CentOs-7 image with Live USB Creator, i browsed through the 'EFI' folder and 'boot' subfolder in it. I deleted all 3 files with .efi extension and bingo the installation was completed in a jiffy with automatic partitioning and all. Hope this helps somebody.

Thanks and regards to all.

Sanjay
