Question laptop + docking station does NOT boot

Hi there,

I have a Compaq Armada 7800 laptop installed with redhat 8.0.
Whenever I try installing redhat 9 or try upgrading to a newer
kernel version 2.4.20-18 the thing just stops booting with following
last message on console:
========================================================
....
blk: queue c03a5260, I/O limit 4095Mb (mask 0xffffffff)
ide0 at 0x1f0-0x1f7,0x3f6 on irq 14
========================================================
The strange thing is that when the laptop is undocked the system
boots just fine!??!
Does anyone know why there is such a behaviour and how to solve it ?
It seems like an irq conflict ... but does the docking station have
irq's ? And if it does how can we alter them ?
I definitely need the docking station since i don't have a network
card on board without it !
Been looking on the NET for similar things but nowhere a solution ...

Best regards,

Tim

I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 and just upgraded from RH9 to Fedora and tried to use it with my docking station. I have almost the same problem. I have an external monitor, keyboard, mouse, network connection (basically everything plugged into the docking station) hooked up. Right after it prompts you whether or not you want to enter interactive setup, if you let the system continue to boot itself, it puts some funky display bars on the screen and locks there. I never tried it with RH9, but the system would boot fine before it was undocked. I haven't tried to undock it and boot it.
I'm running a dual boot with Fedora and WinXP Pro.

Any suggestions from anyone else who's had & hopefully solved this problem??????

Thanx
