laptop buttons how?

I have Suse 9.3 (from open Suse) on a pavilion zv5120us laptop. How do I enable the buttons of this laptop (like the media, browser buttons, volume up down mute buttons etc.)? I need the volume buttons really. I could not do a successful search as I did not know the name of those buttons.

I don't use SuSE, but I know in both KDE and Gnome, you can specify keyboard shortcuts by simply pressing them--you do not need to know the actual names of the keys. For example, when I define the keyboard shortcut for my volume up button by pressing the button, Gnome translates that key to be 0xb0.

Go to KDE control center

--------->

choose your ------->keyboard layout.

Lots of models are given in there. In case your laptop model is not listed try something similar...
