Question Keeping Touchpad Settings in PCLOS

The tapping feature makes using the touchpad an awful PITA.
Well...........I screwed around with the touchpad on my Dell Inspiron 2500, 512 mem 10 gig HD, for quit a while. I don't like little machines kicking my butt. I ended up with this. Uninstalled qsynaptics. Left ksynaptics. When I log on, I still have touchpad problems, but I go to control center and check the tapping box in touchpad properties. It is always unchecked whenever I reboot, but it doesnt keep the setting. If I check it again, and then uncheck it, I can then hit apply, and the tapping feature is disabled, and my mouse pad works pretty good. Anybody know why the CC doesn't keep this setting. It is just kind of a PITA to have to go through that every time I boot. I also turned off scrolling. But at least this way I don't get things disappearing and scrolling at will. Any hints about having CC keep the settings I make, would be welcome.
