Issues w/ Asus G50Vt and Debian 5.0

1. I am have some issues with my laptop not being able to playback music.

2. Also, KNetwork Manager cannot see my wireless connection.

When ever i use this /sbin/iwconfig in root terminal this is what i get in return

Code:
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

3. I was hoping to get KDE4.3 on Deb 5.0, is that possible?

Thanks in advance

-Tony

Also, after lspci | grep -E 'Ether|Net'
Code:
03:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless WiFi Link 5100
06:00.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller (rev 02)

Have you unmuted all the channels?
Code:
alsamixer

A quick google seems to indicate that you need to use a newer kernel. Please try the following:

Probably possible with backports: but I'd have to check.

Cheers,

EVo2.

Ok,

I got the correct kernel through synaptic and restarted as suggested from the Lenny wiki.

Code:
debian:/home/pyrocide# iwconfig
lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

wmaster0 no wireless extensions.

wlan0 IEEE 802.11abgn ESSID:""
          Mode:Managed Frequency:2.412 GHz Access Point: Not-Associated
          Tx-Power=0 dBm
          Retry min limit:7 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:off
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0
Thanks for the help by the way.

Got the sound working...master was WAY down.

EDIT> Checked my wireless network and can at least configure a wireless network now, but not only does it not pick up, but it also shuts off my ethernet access as well.

EDIT2> got it working, had a few things along with my old passphrase mixed up in my little red book of codes...thanks for the help evo2.
