Intel 855 driver installation

When I try to install the Intel 855 (extreme graphics) driver, I get the following error:

rm -f *.o *.ko dristat drmstat .depend .*.flags .*.d .*.cmd
make: *** No rule to make target `gdg.ko'. Stop.

How do I install the required module?

Update: I've searched around a bit, and the general consensus is that it's a bug with Intel's installer script. I never did get it to work, but I found that whatever drivers came with Debian seem to work fine, so I guess I'll just leave it at that.

I have a problem with video image with the default xorg drivers. The picture is flickering in green and purple. Hard to explain, but it looks awful. There is some trouble with the card in Windows as well, seems like Intel didn't do so well with this card.
