Install ubuntu on asus zenbook ux305

HI guys, I have an asus zenbook ux305 with windows 10 on it and I think the time has come to install ubuntu on it. I had a quick look on this forum for known issues with that, I didn't find many to be honest, just a couple of thread but they were not very specific for ubuntu. I looked on the net and same result, which leads me to believe that it should be largely OK. Has anyone had any bad experience with ubuntu (probably 16.04.3) on this laptop?
thanks

I know I've read at least 1 review of it with linux, and the author didn't point out any difficulties, so I'm inclined to believe it probably works rather well. NO first hand knowledge, myself, however.

Download the iso, create a USB and test it.
If the live session can see all your hardware, particularly screen resolution and network, that should give you confidence. If you didn't get a Win10 recovery disk, create one before you start the install.
KISS.

FWIW, I've had Mint on a similar, older, kit and it worked fine. Herself loved it, until the mini-SSD died. It was a "special" for the slim form factor, and too hard to source a sure replacement, so we tossed it out. Nothing to do with Linux of course. Hopefully these days they use something more standard like NVMe.

thanks guys. I thought that running the live version wasn't necessarily a reflection of how well/bad ubuntu run on the machine. Howerver, I will try. Yes I should probably create a win 10 recovery disk

One thing with Windows 10, if you don't have customized applications, you can simply create a USB with the M$ Media Creation tool. Once it's activated with Win10, you don't need OEM restore media/recovery media, and in fact if like most if has a ton of bloatware installed, reinstalling from the straight Win10 image is completely free of any bloatware.

Cool, thanks, but to be honest once I go to Ubuntu I won't go back. I have a machine with dual boot but I always use ubuntu, another machine which I use as storage and that again has ubuntu and now this one, currently with windows but which I will soon load up with ubuntu...
