In built webcam in asus laptop

I have an Asus laptop and I am more than happy with it. It has an in built webcam which I am interested in getting working under linux. I had heard that linux had not yet caught up with webcams in laptops but I wasn't sure. So if you know how to get it working I would be very grateful. I am using sabayon 3.4
