Unhappy How to make my multi-card reader working ?

Hello,

I have a hp compaq laptop nx9420 with openSUSE 10.3 KDE and kernel 2.6.22.13-0.3-default.
This laptop have a multi-card reader : sd-ms/Pro.MMC.SM.XD

I can't use it.

it's recognized in the lspci at :

Code:
tux-nx:/home/lpe # lspci | grep Mass
02:06.2 Mass storage controller: Texas Instruments 5-in-1 Multimedia Card Reader (SD/MMC/MS/MS PRO/xD)
I introduced a XD card and i can find this into /var/log/messages :

Code:
Dec 16 20:32:05 tux-nx kernel: tifm_core: SmartMedia/xD card detected in socket 0:0
The card is detected

But

Code:
tux-nx:/home/lpe # fdisk -l

Disque /dev/sda: 160.0 Go, 160041885696 octets
240 heads, 63 sectors/track, 20673 cylinders
Units = cylindres of 15120 * 512 = 7741440 bytes
Disk identifier: 0xd03cd03c

/dev/sdc1 1 248 1015280 b W95 FAT32
No Xd card, only the main hard-drive and the usb stick.

Code:
tux-nx:/home/lpe # modprobe -l | grep card
/lib/modules/2.6.22.13-0.3-default/kernel/drivers/bluetooth/bluecard_cs.ko
/lib/modules/2.6.22.13-0.3-default/kernel/drivers/mmc/card/mmc_block.ko

Is-it possible to do the card reader working ?

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

do you have a usb stick plugged in?

because as far as the OS is concerned, the card IS a usb stick.

There's no support yet for xD cards on these readers - MMC/ SD only for now, MemoryStick currently in development.

The TI chips are _NOT_ USB mass storage readers.

Ok thanks, all the others parameters are good. Now I understand why I can't read my xd card.
