Post How can I install/enable PCMCIA services in FC2?

Hello everyone,

I am using an HP OmniBook XE3L from work and I just installed FC2 and ran the yum install kernel-update. I am having a problem making a Linksys PCMCIA Wireless NIC working. From research online, it looks like when I installed FC2, I should have enabled some sort of PCMCIA service or image. I was wondering if there was a way to now enable the PCMCIA service in FC2. Any help would be very appreciated.

Nick

PCMCIA is broken in FC2 due to a scripting bug. Do some googling and you'll find the work around.

Do you know if it is broken in RH9? I will switch to RH9 if PCMCIA works in it.

Thanks.

You were right about the fix being simple. For all others who happen upon this post, here is the fix in FC2:

Remove the line "alias eth1 orinoco_cs" from the following file:
/etc/modprobe.conf

Reboot and you are set. :-)
