Hotplug always signs iPAQ on and immediatly off

Hi

I'm using Ubuntu 5.04 and I have a problem with hotplug.

When I plug in my XDA III (it's similar to Qtek9090) it sometimes work. I can connect with synce and multisync. I can copy files, install software and even sync my contacts etc. with evolution.
But most of the time the hotplug functionality doesn't work. When I plug in the PDA hotplug signs the device on but immediately it signs the device off again. This happens all the time. When I look into the GNOME device manager I can see in the USB section that the device appears and after a few seconds disappears again.
When I look into the log files I see the following:

Code:
tail /var/log/synce
Jul 03 15:37:15 gandalf /etc/hotplug/usb/ipaq: iPAQ added
Jul 03 15:37:20 gandalf /etc/hotplug/usb/ipaq: iPAQ removed

synce-serial-abort was unable find a running SynCE connection. Will do nothing.

Jul 03 15:38:08 gandalf /etc/hotplug/usb/ipaq: iPAQ added
Jul 03 15:38:13 gandalf /etc/hotplug/usb/ipaq: iPAQ removed

synce-serial-abort was unable find a running SynCE connection. Will do nothing.
Can somebody tell me how I can solve this problem?

Any help oder ideas would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
