GRUB _

Hello,

I just installed Fedora 9. When i rebooted it all worked fine the first time. then i did the whole
yum update

it upgraded for about 2 hours it was done. i used the computer and then turned it off.
this morning when i went to turn the computer on, all it says is

GRUB _

and that's it.
It won't keep booting no matter what i do.

anyone have any idea what could be wrong?

thanx

Two hours of updates. Was there a kernel upgrade too? You may have to reinstall grub reflecting the new kernel.

Why not (current) Fedora 10 ? - at least the updates would have been less.

The grub prompt like that is a "hard loop" message. Usually means something like it can't find a (any) disk to boot. Can you boot into your disk install from the Fedora CD/DVD ?. It may have an option to re-install grub, else just (presuming no LVM/mdadm involvement) "grub-install /dev/sda" should work.

I think that computer would be to slow to run F10 . even F7 was already a bit shifty.

it just seems weird that it would update stuff, and then for some reason mess up the loader... I'll try your tips now..

that seemed to work.
but his problem sounded different to me than what mine was...
