So I've installed Moblin Linux to my 8gig SCHD flash card I keep in my netbook (so I can dual boot with Ubuntu Karmic) anyways I have done so only to discover that the moblin boot manager is less than smart (I've done with this other distros before with out a hitch) By default when I told my system to boot from the flash card all I got was a white flashing line - upon booting into Karmic and investigating the menu.lst moblin had made for itself I discovered that it had selected the wrong disc to boot from (it had hd(0,0) when it needed hd(1,0)) upon making that proper edit I was able to boot grub properly from the SDHC card how ever I am still getting a grub error 15 I am unsure how to resolve... Any suggestions? My moblin partition is on sdb1
And here is my current menu.lst that gets the grub error 15:
Code:
# grub.conf generated by anaconda
#
# Note that you do not have to rerun grub after making changes to this file
# NOTICE: You do not have a /boot partition. This means that
# all kernel and initrd paths are relative to /, eg.
# root (hd0,0)
# kernel /boot/vmlinuz-version ro root=/dev/sdb1
# initrd /boot/initrd-version.img
#boot=/dev/sdb1
default=0
timeout=0
splashimage=(hd0,0)/boot/grub/splash.xpm.gz
hiddenmenu
silent
title Moblin (2.6.30.3-4.1.moblin2-netbook)
root (hd1,0)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.30.3-4.1.moblin2-netbook ro root=/dev/sdb1 quiet vga=current
Open to suggestions, really want to poke around with Moblin - it looks promising other than these hitches I am having getting started.

If you're getting a Grub error 15 then you're not able to boot. Seems like conflicting statement to me? Are you using Ubuntu (installed on the internal hard drive) to boot both Ubuntu and Moblin? Are you selecting the drive to boot from on each boot? I would assume you would want to boot from the internal (both systems) as you won't have the flash card attached at all times.
What does your partition info look like, run sudo fdisk -l and post output here.
I am able to boot to grub meaning grub loads properly but is not finding the correct hard drive. Ubuntu Karmic (with grub2) is what is loaded on the laptop's hard disk. How ever I want to load grub from the SDHC so for instance I could wipe my hard drive and still work off of the flash disk entirely. If I am understanding the error message correctly it means that it is not being pointed to the correct disc - how ever I am not sure which disc it needs to be pointed to. (I wish Moblin would use the UUID for the disc instead of /dev/sdxY, would make things much easier)
The flash card is detected as sdb and only has a single 7.5 gig partition for root. I know its not an fdisk -l output but that is all the information that it would provide anyways. If you need more than that let me know.
