Actually, yes. I am running it right now, but I cannot configure it properly.
You need to have it either integrated into the kernel or loaded from ramdisk. To invoke the device, you got to pass an option to the kernel. My current option in grub is video=intelfb:1280x1024-24@60, but when I look at dmesg I find that it runs on 1280x1024-32@60 and the screen is shifted to the left.
EDIT: Sorry, maybe I should mention that it is not a Dell Inspiron but a Dell GX270 desktop.
Originally posted by Anders1 Well that is for CRT, and didn't help me. I read somewhere that I had to update the BIOS, but I think I can live with the blurry console for a while..
OK, that's probably why it does not work correctly, since I have a TFT display. Do you know something more about configurations?
A blurry console, doesn't that mean that you run the monitor on a lower resolution than it is capable of? I mean the settings have an effect on my system, but not the desired one. If I define hsync and vsync values from the monitor specifications, the framebuffer resets to 640x400.
My bios is out-dated (I can't change video memory size in it) and it's defaulted to 800K which isnt enough for 1024x768. I'll fix it when I bother.. I have no time atm
