Hi!
My notebook has American Megatrends BIOS v. 1.01.02 - no UEFI.
The vendor says
" An upgrade would include UEFI." (I would have UEFI with CSM = BIOS emulated.)
Is that possible?
I guess that you mean the Schenker Xirios D501 (precision is crucial when it comes to stuff like this). Astonishingly, while I can find reviews for that laptop, I can't find it in Schenker's support section. Do you have a link to a site that provides BIOS updates for that machine?
Generally speaking: If the flash-ROM is large enough to hold the UEFI firmware (which usually is larger than the more simple BIOS firmware) and the manufacturer of that machine (or in case of a desktop PC the manufacturer of the mainboard) provides that firmware ten I see no reason why it should not be possible to upgrade a BIOS to an UEFI firmware.
The first link points to a directory with the file BIOS_115.zip, which contains the firmware image (W240HU.15), but the second link, which points to the documetation, does not list your laptop model as one of the models that get UEFI when upgraded.
If you have no problems with the BIOS then I would not upgrade it.
