[SOLVED] fgl_glxgears halts notebook while running compiz

Hi!

Last week I installed the propietary module fglrx from ATI (10.6). When
running compiz if I start fgl_glxgears the notebook halts; no keyboard, no mouse, nothing, just the fans running fast.

I have a Pavilion dv5-1120us and I use Debian Lenny.

More specs:

fglrxinfo:

OpenGL vendor string: ATI Technologies Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics
OpenGL version string: 3.3.9901 Compatibility Profile Context

lsmod|grep fgl

fglrx 2179388 39

Those guys are writing closed source software, adding to OSS stuff, trying to keep up with the latest cards, and corners definitely are cut. So things like opengl, & xvid may not be fully iplemented. Some of the programmers are on ati forums in phoronix.com - try posting there.
