Failed Debian Net Install on Thinkpad 240X

Hello everyone,

I recently learned about "net install" from floppies. My IBM Thinkpad cannot boot from anything else but floppy drive and hard drive. I went through the net install of the latest Debian release and was just about to boot into my new system when I realized that every time I turned the pc on, before getting to anything,it just appeared to go into "sleep" or hibernate mode as if the lid was closed or something. And now the bad thing is that I can't even get into the BIOS! What has happened? Anyone know? I'd love help!
