External Display Problem on Dell Inspiron 8600 w/ nVidia card and Redhat 9
My Dell Inspiron 8600 has a 15.4" widescreen WSXGA+ display from Hitachi suporting 1680x1050 resolution. It has an nVidia GeForce FX Go5200 video card with 32MB RAM.
I seem to have Redhat 9 working on it for the most part except for the external display. I have downloaded and installed the nvidia 4363 driver and included the 16:10 modelines in my XF86Config file to support the widescreen display. The laptop LCD display works great. Unfortunately when I switch to the external monitor using the twinview features in 1280x1024 mode, the picture on the monitor is not good. It keeps shaking, its not a steady picture, as if the refresh rate or frequencies were incorrect. I have tried 4 different monitors, and 2 projectors. I have also tried all the drivers since the 4363 version. I have also played with the frequencies in the monitor section of the XF86Config file. None of it seem to make any difference.
Has anyone run into this before? Any suggestions?
Thanks
Jeet
