Extensa 4420 SATA Drive Compatibilty

Anyone know if a SATA 2.5 hard drive is compatible with the Acer EX 4420-5963 notebook? I want to replace the existing hard drive with a Fujitsu mhz2160bh-g2. Googling did not answer this question. TIA

If I were replacing the drive I would go or a 7200 RPM drive for the performance boost. but that's just me.

If your laptop currently has a 2.5" Sata Drive (it appears from the Specs that it does), any 2.5" sata drive should work. I do see in the specs for your computer the drive has that "auto park heads' feature to prevent drive damage from shock. Seagate has this technology in their Momentus drives as well

Maybe something like this Seagate drive would be a good fit.

200 GB
SATA 300
16 MB Cache
7200 RPM
G-Force Freefall technology
5 Year manufacturer Warranty
$75.28

Just a suggestion, Any 2.5" Sata drive should work fine, including the Fujitsu you mentioned. .

Thanks, wanted to be sure, found a few posts concerning the HD not being found and not booting, and haven't any previous experience with SATA Notebooks (my EX4420 is enroute).

Never used a Fujitsu, but, $50 delivered & 3yr warranty, got my attention. Their 7200rpm drive is the same price, but am concerned about heat (speed ^ friction ^).

This is for experimenting and sampling other Linux distributions.

Thanks again.

you could contact the laptop manufacturer and find out if thete are any size restrictions on the hard drive. this is usually only an issue on older hardware that has BIOS limitations. I haven't run into this with SATA devices befoe, but that doesn't mean it's not still a possibility.

Thanks, I did that, my query is and has been in Acer's cue. Probably won't be an issue, nor RMA required, so ordering the SATA this morning.

[Edit] NewEgg had a special today, so went with the Seagate for $10 more.

Thanks again.
