Comb D-Link's web site to identify the hardware revision of the card. The following web page provides links to available, open source code drivers corresponding to their specific chipsets:
Your '8201' resembles the ADMtek chipset, but exercise caution since the 8211 was deployed, presumably, later. A HowTO guide pertaining to the DWL-650 can be found at:
Sorry for the late reply. I finally got my card configured and ready to run. Thanks.
The LED blinks, the cards detected and the ifconfig, iwconfig show details for the card.
However I'm unable to connect to the network. I tried
ifconfig eth1 IP_ADDRESS
and the card comes up successfully, as mentioned in the article !! does this IP address have to be valid... or'll it take it via DHCP. Via a windows machine the network is detected i.e. the signal streanght is excellent at my place..
Also the YAST2 -> Network device still won't detect my card (I wonder why)....
but shows it to be configured as an eth1 interface.
Did I miss something ?
Any help in this matter would be highly appreciated.
