Dell Latitude LS PIII 500Mhz

I have aquired a cheap Dell Latitude LS PIII 500Mhz with 128Mb RAM. It currently duel boots Win 98 and Mandriva 2005LE. My question is would this be up to running 2006 or 2007 when it comes out, or would something else be preferable. I would like to still be able to run KDE as the desktop. Memory upgrades are still available would this help.

ive got a compaq armada thats at 500mhx with 256mb RAM and I use it to test alot of distros. I figure if you dont install tons of pointless stuff, you should be fine with 2006/7. however, i would think about moving to another distro thats lighter and gives you a bit more choice on that you want to install.
