Compaq Presario 705EA Motherboard

Hi

Does anybody know where I can get a Compaq Presario 705EA Motherboard tested to see if it works or can be repaired.

The laptop would not power up and I suspect the motherboard as being faulty.

The motherboard has been removed from the laptop for easy shipping.

Thanks.

Did you take the motherboard out before you had this problem, or after. I know on my presario 2500 I CAN'T take it apart. Compaq (HP) makes sure of this, because there is a floppy disk you need to reprogram your eprom, and they won't give it to you no matter how much you say you'll pay them. I don't know if your notebook is the same as mine but you should check this link out to find more about it.

Hi Dreadbeast

Yes the Presario motherboard was faulty before being removed from the Laptop.

The Compaq Presario team in the UK tell me they have special floppy plus quick restore cds - cost £25.90 from them. These are required as you say to get the laptop up and running again when I have fixed/replaced the motherboard.

However the cost for a replacement motherboard is expensive hence I am hoping for a repair otherwise I will get another machine.
