Question Can't install debian 3.1 (sarge) on a Fujitsu Siemens (FSC) Laptop S7110

Hello!

Has anybody mastered the installation of
Debian 3.1 rc2 (sarge) on a Fujitsu Siemens (FSC) S7110 laptop?

I tried kernel 2.4 and 2.6 (boot with linux26) but the installer
nether finds the Network-Card

[!] Detect network hardware
No Ethernet card was detected. If you know...

(sk98lin didn't work)

nor the harddisk !

[.] Detect hardware
Unable to load some modules
Linux kernel modules needed to drive some of your hardware are not
available yet. Simply proceeding with the install may make these
modules available later.

The unavailable modules, and the devices that need them are: ide-scsi
(Linux IDE-SCSI emulation layer), ide-mod (Linux iDE driver),
ide-probe-mod (Linux IDE probe driver), ide-detect (Linux IDE
detection), ide-floppy (Linux IDE floppy)

This leads to this error message in the next step:

[!!] Partition disks
No partitionable media
No partitionable media were found.
Please check that a hard disk is attached to this machine.

Any ideas or hints?
Thank you in advance.

P.S.: the S7110 doesn't have a floppy drive (to load additional drivers/modules).

Install Etch instead. Sarge, which is what you are trying to install, can not be expected to recognize new hardware. Assuming you have a broadband ethernet connection, all you need is the Netinstall disk, about 100MB.

Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M1437G

Hi!

I have the same problem, but my computer is a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M1437G. And I have no problem with ethernet card but harddisk.
I get the same error message:
[!!] Partition disks
No partitionable media
No partitionable media were found.
Please check that a hard disk is attached to this machine.

Do You have any idea how can I install the OS?
This notebook has no floopy disk and I try to install Debian 3.1r3.

Thank You for advice.
