Burning ISO cd's and booting from cdrom but still unrecognized?

Hello

On my duo core laptop I mulitboot Windows 2003 Server and XP now I'm adding Fedora 6. I downloaded Fedora 6 for the x86_64 machine with the 6 ISO files, Rescue file and Sha1sum off of the Redhat website. I tried to install it two different ways and they both failed:

1)First, I downloaded each of the 6 ISO files to its own folder on the hard drive, I used Winrar to extract the ISO file's contents to a folder. Next ran Roxio to erase the cd, next I burnt the contents of the ISO file using Roxio from the hard drive onto the cd. With the BIOS set to boot from cdrom I rebooted the laptop. Then I rebooted and tried to install Linux but the system doesn't recognize the Linux cd and goes straight to XP and loads XP.

2)Second, I downloaded each of the 6 ISO files to its own folder on the hard drive, next I burnt the ISO file without extracting the contents (i.e. FC-6-x86_64-disc1.iso) onto a cd in the cdrom drive, next set the BIOS to boot from cdrom. Next rebooted and tried to install Linux but the system still doesn't recognize the Linux cd and goes straight to XP and loads XP

Can anyone tell me how I can correct this problem?

You need to do #2, but you need to "Burn disc from Image". If you open the CD in windows and it shows one big *.iso file, you did it wrong. You should see all the contents like you did in step #1. But when you extracted the files in step 1, you destroyed the boot information from the image.

Read the README file on the first install disk for other installation options. You may be able to burn a smaller install disk and use the ISO images as the source of the install. If it is possible, it works better if you put the images on the root of the drive. Especially since windows likes using spaces in it's directory names.

Extracting the files then burning them will not create a bootable CD. You need to select "Create CD from Image" under the file drop down menu. Select the iso file and burn away.
