boot halts @ pci probe

On a new install of mandrake 10.1 on my laptop I get a hangup on every boot at

PCI: probing pci hardware (bus 00)

I am using 2.6.x kernel. Would changing back to 2.4.x help any? (I'd have to re-install so I'd rather not try it before asking)

What might be causing this?
