I think you might be a bit confused about how support works.
Its not just a case of having an 'open source driver', you need the documentation for the video chip/GPU. That is why the intel i8XX chipset video has had major problems lately.....intel never released the documentation. So even though they have open source drivers, developers cant really fix the problems.
To be fair, its not just the lack of documentation that hurts the i8XX video, it was awful even at time of release.

Intel has had a lot of closed hardware, even if the drivers are open. GMA 500 was probably the worst. Even the HD XXXX series suff uses 'Tungsten Graphics' which was the source of the GMA 500 problem....

So much better.....yeah, finally intel has caught up to the bottom of the heap, last gen video cards from nVidia and AMD. *waves flags, gets out party hats*
If intel didnt have (realistically) 100% of the chipset market for intel CPUs they wouldnt have managed to sell half, or even a quater of the video chips they do.

Is this the real reason why you're anti-nvidia GPUs?
'Dont work all the great' would be nice compared to using the intel video chip of a similar age and the open source intel drivers.
