Question Back light issues for Acer 4736 Laptop on Fedora 16

Hi,
I was trying to install Fedora 16 on an acer 4736 laptop for my daily use.

Now the weirdest problem, the back light of my laptop turns off during installation. So I cant continue the installation.
After some googling; I learned that adding "acpi_osi=Linux acpi_backlight=vendor" as kernel parameters might solve this issue.

But this also fails in my case. I tried other linux distros like Ubuntu 11.10, OpenSuse 12.1. But every one of them behaves the same way.
But this display works perfect in windows.

I believe some tricks are there to make this work.
Any help will be much appreciated..
Thanks.

If you can get a root terminal, poke around in
/sys/devices/virtual/backlight/acpi_video0

I have a brightness setting there which does things.

echo 10 > /sys/devices/virtual/backlight/acpi_video0/brightness
