Question averatec av-4155-eh1 fedora core 5 x64 problem

When I first Installed FC5 x64 on the laptop with 512MB ram everything worked great including wireless. My problem started when upgraded the memory to 1GB. The os acted erractic at times and would lock up alot. I tried to reinstall but it would crash at the install gui. I tried in text mode but would also crash at anaconda. I know the ram is good because I installed FC5 x86 with no problems, infact that is what I am using to write this thread. So I know its FC5 x64 that is reacting badly to anything above 512MB of ram on this laptop. I know their more than likely no quick fix to this problem I just hope it might be resolved in future releases. So my question would be: Is it possible that I am missing some patch or workaround that could fix this problem?
