Question acer travelmate 2420 display problem on debian


i have tried to installed debian 3.1 on my acer travelmate 2420 laptop (that have widescreen display)

my diplay card can't recognized automatically so i select i810 family.

i can't get xdispaly it stops giving error can't start ???? display.

can anyone help for this problem? what should i do? i tried gdmsetup but can't switch to display.

on kernal prompt i can work fine.

hoping for your early response.

as root type

lspci |grep VGA
post the output, this way we can manually select the appropriate driver for you.

TM2420 and X settings

I have an Acer Travelmate 2420, running X just fine under Debian Sarge. X version is 6.9.0 (from www (cant post urls) backports (dot) org) Here's my config regarding the gfx card

I solve the problem on SuSe 9.x

I have the same computer, but my problem was with SuSe 9.X, I solve the problem download a driver from intel. It work's fine. There are files for another distribution, check it out.

On Suse10 or RH8

My earlier post noted that I had the same problem with SuSE 10 and RH 8 and was searching for a solution. Thanks for the lead about downloading a driver from Intel. Looking forward to a response from chrisortiz.
