a question of ACPI on install

on start of install (SuSe 10.1) I chose the ACPI disabled option just to avoid install problems on a new laptop ( hp dv8235nr ). Now I'm trying to see if i cant get it working. If i remove the acpi=off option in the boot params iget to the login and then just as desktop begins to show it starts shutdown.

From the warning messgs. i see an acpi temp critical (0 deg)shutting down

Now i've tried to change/view acpi params in /proc/acpi but it doesn't exist

the only acpi enablement that it will boot with is acpi=ht

now...do I have to reinstall w/acpi to create /proc/acpi or is it created dynamically (it's not there w/ acpi=ht)

alot of new hardware in this laptop: cetrino duo t2300, NVIDA 7400 (works great),conexant HD sound card (itermitant; headphones work fine, speakers soft, hardware volume buttons not at all, cds no sound, Americas Army no sound.
intel ipw3925 works fine,(except i'm 5' from router and i get 28% tho i've conected to others much higher) even the connect light,on/off button no. Tv card; no.
dual sata 100g harddisk; fine. Synaptic touchpad works better than in windoz(i have dual boot)

any ideas?

I've done that to no avail.

and as for the other things just to note; wifi power is fine now with knetworkmanager update. sound too except soft speakers and slight distortion of some sounds.

I'll send a bitch note to hp about acpi standards.
