Text Terminals Just Show Log Output

Hello,

When I switch to a text terminal using Ctrl-Alt-F*, it just shows an output of what appears to be kern.log. The first terminal is just this log output (constantly updating). The other text terminals are the same, except they can still be used, though not easily since they are still displaying the constantly updating log. When I restart, the problem goes away and may stay away for many boots. Then on some random boot, it will be back again. Currently the problem has persisted for two consecutive boots.

This is the kind of message that's being printed over and over: [ 1080.215182] intel ips 0000:00:1f.6: ME failed to update for more than 1s, likely hung

I am running Linux Mint 15 with Linux 3.8.0.

According to
http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=26105

there is a work around:

Add intel_ips to the blacklist
Code:
sudo echo "blacklist intel_ips" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
And then add i915 and intel_ips to /etc/modules
Code:
sudo echo -e "i915\nintel_ips" >> /etc/modules
and then reboot your computer.

It might work.

Thank you, that was a very quick reply! I will try that out, hopefully it works.
