Query Regarding Minimal Kernel Space

Hi...

I have just a small doubt regarding the linux memory space. I have checked the contents of file: /proc/iomem.c and there I seen 2 of enteries as:

00100000-002d53e3 : Kernel Code
002d53e4-0039337f : Kernel Data

Computing Kernel Code space from above it comes around 1.83MB and similarly Kernel Data computes around 0.74MB.

So, If I am using 64MB DDR memory for linux Kernel can I assume that this much is the enuf DDR Memory space(1.83 +0.74MB) used by linux Kernel and remaining of the DDR memory space I can used for some other purpose( as IO device ) by passing just say mem =4M(say)in Kernel Configure option????
Will just 4MB of DDR space will be enuf for smooth running of my Linux Kernel????
