NAND with UBI - MTBF calculation

Hi linux-mtd users,

We are using the Samsung's NAND (128MB) in our system. We are running ubi over the NAND device.
It is divided into 9 ubi volumes.
Now, we would like to calculate the MTBF of the system (especially NAND with UBI).
Your valuable inputs are required in this regard.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks and Regards,
Navaneethan P

Depends entirely on how much data you write and what file system you are using. By the size of the flash chip it doesn't sound like an MLC part so max erase count is probably 100,000 cycles so you can probably work it out from that. eg. if you write 128MB per day and you are using a log file system then it will your MTBF is 100,000 days. Just check the data sheet for the part and make sure you are using a wear leveling file system.
