Question Linux realtime kernel "patch" or "patches".

In the Linux realtime kernel repo, i see now two kinds of patches :
http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/3.2/

I found no explanation about it.

So why does the name/size change, ie : patch-3.2-rt10.patch.bz2 116K and patches-3.2-rt10.tar.bz2 163K ?
