Linux Kernel Panics


Yes I was wondering how can you create a Kernel Panic! at will

I am testing my crash dump settings

Well not really a great idea but still you can do it using sysRq. Some initial version of fedora/RHEL used a crash program which was part of netdump package. First enable sysRq

#echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq

Now to crash :

#echo c > /proc/sysrq-trigger

If you testing netdump here then not need to crash the system really, you can test is by sending "m" instead of "c" which will send the memory dump to netdump server.
