lilo boot loader


guys how do i put the lilo bootloader on. cuz a default ubuntu dapper installation wont allow me to choose which boot-loader. is the lilo available only through a live cd of any distro??

Is there any particular reason you want to use lilo rather than the more modern GRUB bootloader? Unless you've got a very strong reason to use lilo, I'd recommend you stick with GRUB.

i heard partition magic and grub dont agree with each other so i guess lilo wouldnt cause such problems

Well I don't know for certain about that but I'd be surprised if it was the case. Partition magic deals with partition tables and is a Windows app, whereas GRUB is a Linux bootloader, so they shouldn't come into any contact with each other. The only peripheral contact they would have would be that they both rely on the partition table, but that is a common format irrespective of OS, so if it were the case that Partition Magic and GRUB didn't play well then you'd have the same problems with LILO.
