Kernel Booting Slow - initramfs - Ubuntu 7.04 Kernel 2.6.20

Hi

I've had this issue of a really slow boot time for a while on my Acer Travelmate 2500 ...

[ 41.278169] checking if image is initramfs... it is
[ 105.948785] Freeing initrd memory: 6770k freed

Can anyone explain the massive delay - the full dmesg output is below (highlighted in red, sorry, quite far down). It also seems to take a while to early unpack the initramfs ...

[ 27.601270] Early unpacking initramfs... done
[ 40.348883] ACPI: Core revision 20060707

This is really frustrating me!
Searched everywhere and can find no info on this, any insight would be much appreciated. It boots just fine after that initial delay.

Thanks and regards.

Hi guys, I'm having *exactly* the same problem with my laptop. The model is Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Pro V7010. I'm still searching for a solution (I do not want to compile a new kernel without initramfs)
