Question Kernel 2.6.19 breaks when I start to compile it...

I've downloaded the Kernel 2.6.19, then I compiled it...
All was fine.

After some time (I had probably uninstalled some package which I don't remember now) it was no more compiling.

it's an old box K6-II 333mhz, 128mb and it's running the Kernel 2.4.33.

I can't even compile the "menuconfig".

*** Warning: make dep is unnecessary now.

make[1]: *** [scripts/basic/fixdep] Error 1
make: *** [scripts_basic] Error 2
root@eisenbahn:/usr/src/linux-2.6.19#

The problem is, I don't even know what is wrong with libc_nonshared.a and I can't nothing find at google, it's very confuse...

Thanks in advance if you guys can help me! :-)

You really need to read a couple of things, the first is the Changes file in the kernel's source tree Documentation directory the other is the Linux kernel in a nutshell. Here is a link to the complete freely available book;

ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kerne...kn_pdf.tar.bz2

Thanks for the link, but I've fixed it now anyway.

I just reinstalled the glibc packages and now it works. :-)

thanks anyway.
