installing applications


hi i am working on opensuse.
i downloaded gcc with extension .tar.bz2.
I want to install gcc how can i do it???
How do i install .tar.bz2 file????

Much easier to do # zypper in gcc gcc-c++

Or use 'Yast2' for package install.

Actually, you are not supposed to download any system packages.
The 5,000 most basic are available from Suse.
And another 5,000 "extra" packages from the 'Suse packman repo'.
