error mv: `../oxyspool/temp_oxy' and `../oxyspool/oxyfilenames' are the same file

error in move command.
mv -f ../oxyspool/temp_oxy ../oxyspool/oxyfilenames
error: mv: `../oxyspool/temp_oxy' and `../oxyspool/oxyfilenames' are the same file.
why?
name of source file and destination file are different..
but giving the of same file.. why?

It's possible that one file is a link to the other.

Post the output of:
Code:
stat ../oxyspool/temp_oxy ../oxyspool/oxyfilenames

Could it be that both file names point to the same inode? In other words, are both filenames links to the same file? If you do an ls -l on one of the files, one of the fields in the listing should tell you how many links there are to the file.

as such there is no soft link created for a file.
as soon as the file is created its removed after it is used..
cant see the output of stat ...
