Question A 2.4 Linux non-firewall PING issue

Hi there,

I am working with this embedded system running Linux kernel 2.4.

It is configured such that if the system ever freezes, a watchdog timer will force it to reboot.

Recently, there seems to be a rare occasion where the system seems to have frozen where you cannot SSH or telnet to it. It does not even respond to pings.

However, the system did not reboot at all, so I am wondering if the kernel even actually panicked. Because if it did, the watchdog timer should have forced it to reboot.

I was wondering if there are any recommendations to debug this? This is an SBC(single board computer) that does not have an easily available video output.

Thanks
Ian
